3D Creations

I have always been creative. I started by copying the weekend funnies out of the local paper. Today I have built shows, painted backdrops and created prize-winning Halloween costumes. Below are just a few examples:

In my scenic painting class we were assigned the task of painting brick work. I added a little shadow element and photographed my painted piece against a brick background.

I worked for the Vancouver Opera for a number of years as a props builder and as an assistant to the technical director. During my last season with the Opera I was appointed Technical Director for the Opera In Schools program. I built a number of scenic elements and masks for the production. Below are photos of my dragon and Roman column masks for our adaptation of The Magic Flute.

Taking my talents to the realm of film, I worked for a company known as Miniature Effects. If you click on this link: http://www.miniature-effects.com/Welcome.html you can peruse the many facets of this company. If you click on "Portfolio" you can view a slide show development of the creations and a short film clip of the element in it's finished state. Of the six choices, I had the pleasure of working on: Orbit Gum, Hess, Seconds from Disaster and Fantastic Four.

Below are photos of the vehicles from Hess and the large dinosaur from the Orbit Gum commercial that I worked on.

Last year while writing articles for alive magazine, I was contracted by BC Mascots to sculpt a wolf's head for a Boy Scout's troop. below are photos of the head from a block of foam to completion. The head was then sent to BC Mascots where if was covered in fun fur. The troop was very happy with the head.

Last but not least, is a photo which shows a collection of Halloween costumes I created for fun, which happened to win many prizes.
